F. Gómez studied Marine Sciences at University of Cádiz, Spain, and got the Ph.D in Microbiology at the University Complutense of Madrid, Spain, with the title "Biodiversity and biogeography of marine dinoflagellates". I have published more than 100 scientific papers as first author on marine phytoplankton, mainly on dinoflagellates, with numerous taxonomical innovations. I am especially interested on the taxonomy and molecular phylogeny of the less known groups of marine dinoflagellates.
